Macaroni NecklacesColored macaroni necklaces:

Macaroni necklaces are fun for your little ones and not difficult to make at all.  Kids can take as long or as little time as they need to put their necklaces together. Leftover macaroni can be saved and used for another project later.

I made the following necklaces with my nieces and nephew and they were a big hit in the family! This craft is fun for really any occasion and a colorful gift to hand out to friends and families.

What you will need:

- Macaroni Noodles (they have to have a hollow hole through the middle and the more sizes and shapes the better)!

- Food Coloring

- Vinegar or Rubbing Alcohol

- Ziploc Bags

- String (Gimp and yarn are fun because of the fun colors you can choose from)!

- Paper Towels

What you will need to do:

1. Pour food coloring and either a few drops of rubbing alcohol or a few drops of vinegar into a bowl and mix.

2. Take the amount of macaroni you want for that color, dump it into a Ziploc freezer bag, pour the food coloring in, close the bag tightly, shake and wiggle the bag until all of the macaroni is covered. Set aside the Ziploc bag if you want the food coloring to soak in darker. If not, drain the bag, lay out paper towels on the counter or on a cookie sheet and spread the now colored macaroni out on the paper towels to dry.

3. Repeat steps one and two using different colored food coloring and macaroni. Make as much or as little as you need.

4. To be safe, I would allow a few hours for the macaroni to dry out. You don't want the food coloring to bleed onto you or your children's clothes.

5. I would suggest storing your dry macaroni in clean Ziploc freezer bags. It's easy to transport around and store

6. Cut the yarn or string you purchased long enough that your children can fit the necklace they make over their heads. Make sure you knot one noodle of macaroni at the end so that when your kid's start their necklace the macaroni isn't going on and falling off the other end of the string.

7. Assist your kids in tying another knot when they are done with their necklace.

Some fun additions:

-In addition to making necklaces, make bracelets to match

-Make extra and give them to friends and family as gifts

-Use the leftover macaroni to make pictures on construction paper.  Use glue to stick the macaroni on paper.
