The east side of Joliet needs recreation for our youth and adults.  We could accomplish a lot with making a couple of soccer fields.  It would improve the community help kids stay fit by playing and enjoy a popular and increasing sport in this area.  Their is a field on the east side of Joliet off of Woodruff next to the old prison its the perfect site.  You would accomplished beautify the area, providing a field for soccer and beautified an empty lot while also helping improving the east side...

A teacher at one of the schools in District 86 has been seeking donations of bean bag chairs so that she can host an after school reading club.  I noticed that MoGofer sells this product and thought they might be able to help out by donating a handful.  The club is scheduled to meet after school 3 weeks a month.  Kids and adults will be invited to drop in to read in a quiet, comfortable environment.  The school this program has been proposed at lost their use of the school library because an...

The Lions provide over 500 eye screenings each year to the disadvantaged citizens in Joliet and from that total we provided over 300 pairs of glasses and 50 hearing aids.  In addition we have diabetes and hearing bus units that we provide at NO cost to the taxpayers.  We provide support on a local basis to groups such as SOWIC which we've proudly supported for more than 10 years.  We are the oldest service club in Will County having been founded in 1921.  When we joined the group we accept the...

As the community is growing in Joliet and all of Will County, we need more support for women who are victims/survivors of domestic violence. One in four women are affected by domestic violence. Our system does not support women enough, and there needs to be a facility to do this. This program could be a part of Groundwork, expanding all that it currently does. They don't currently have the funding for this, but with this donation from mygofer, they would be able to provide this support group and...

There is an afterschool tutoring program called 'Platform Learning' that is available free of charge to elementary children. When the day ends at 6:30,this program even provides transportation home for the students, eliminating any issues for parents. While they are there, the students also receive a light meal / snack in a conducive learning environment. Come up with ways to give back to the community

I think it is great when retailers find ways to sponsor local event and make contributions to local charities.  It is a great way to give back to the community, get your name out there and build your brand.

Offer the option to use paper bags or bags that can be recycled or reused.

I would really appreciate a variety of recycling bag sizes as well.    Its not only green, but I enjoy the extra sturdiness of a well made reusable bag.  Plus, free advertising when I take it to the beach.

I think you should have an after school program geared towards under priveledged children and get them involved in a community garden.  Teach them skills on how to grow food.  Have them plant some trees in neighborhoods without many tree coverage.  Give them something that will keep them off the streets and out of gangs.

My idea is to help the Joliet Youth Football team the Joliet Titans.  We are in need of a better field.  This league has about 300 children, both football players and cheer leaders.  It's all about the kids :)

Whatever happened to the days of the 50s & 60s where neighbors met each other & helped each other even if it was for only an ear to listen?  A very simple thing to do but not many willing to try it.  Next time you see a neighbor ... smile, introduce yourself, welcome them if they are fairly new to the neighborhood.  Meeting and being friendly with your neighbors is a small step to building a better neighborhood which builds a better Joliet.  Community awareness and community togetherness.  Start...
